The traditional way of age estimation in forensic science is mainly through morphology on human tissue, such as skeleton and teeth, it isn't accurate and unfeasible to deal with some special biomaterial left at crime scene. With the development of cytobiology and molecular biology, some biology markers that have great correlation with age are found at the cell and molecular level, and a new concept “molecular age” is put forward, these offer new techniques for carrying on age estimation in relevant disciplines.
