A study of 18loci multiplex was carried out on the coamplification of seventeen STR loci plus the genderdetermining locus Amelogen in a single amplification/detection of all CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) STR loci (CSF1PO,D3S1358,D5S818,D7S820,D8S1179,D13S317,D16S539,D18S51,D21S11,FGA,TH01,TPOX,and vWA) as well as four widelyaccepted STRs (D6S1043,PentaE,PentaD and D2S1338).By using fivedye fragment analysis technology and previously optimized DNATyperTM15 kit primer sequences, the results showed the multiplex sucessfully coamplify and simultaneously detect all 18 loci and the multiplex could be a useful tool for forensic evidence testing.

ObjectiveTo establish an efficient DNA extraction method for individual identification from teeth samples. MethodThe teeth DNA was extracted using cleansing, pulverizing , decalcification, lysis and purification , followed by STR typing. Result94 DNA profiles were successfully obtained from 96 teeth samples. ConclusionThis new approach can increase the success rate of teeth DNA typing by streamlining extraction protocol.

The analysis and calculation of information are both of the applications of the information theory. This paper shows a method that combines the concepts of information theory with practice of polygraph to calculate the information which the polygraph provided in the criminal investigation and sets up a new platform for use of the polygraph.

The death caused of drowning is common in practical work of forensic science, but it is difficult to diagnose drowning. In order to provide objective and precise evidence in the diagnosis of drowning, many methods were studied in recent years, such as the detection of diatom, the detection of foreign granules and trace element in viscus, blood chemistry and scanning electron microscope. In this text we reviewed the present study and existing problems of the forensic diagnosis of drowning.
