Heroin geographic origin research is an important issue concerned by the authorities of many countries. In this paper, combining the technical exchanges what the authors communicated with the Drug Enforcement Administrations Special Testing and Research Laboratory (STRL) of the United States, the analysis methods and data processing methods for heroin geographic origin research applied by major countries of the world in the recent thirty years were reviewed and investigated.

ObjectiveTo study the change of hormone levels with the time after death. MethodsEndothelin ,thromboxane and cortisol levels of liver, spleen of animals killed at different time were determinated with method of RIA. Results3h,6h,24h,36h,72h after the death of animals, endothelin and thromboxane were decreased significantly(P <0.001) compared with that of 0h; cortisol levels in 3h, 6h after death gradually reduced, increased 24h and then reduced, but also changes have also shown a trend. ConclusionHormone levels of organs after death with the extended time of death reduced.

The features of Chinese handwriting and English handwriting were studied comparatively. We find that class system for two kinds handwriting is approximately same, but there are some differences between the two kinds of scripts,Such as the classification of handwriting features, selection of features,Selection of features, Using frequency of separate features, and understanding of the variation of the same personal handwriting features because of the difference in characteristics and culture container.English handwriting characteristics emphasize in dynamic states, while Chinese handwriting characteristics emphasize in static states;English handwriting characteristics emphasize in diagraph, while Chinese handwriting characteristics emphasize in description; The lines characteristics of English are outstanding, while the sequence of Chinese strokes and the writing method of Chinese scripts are outstanding.

Objective To study how to improve multiplex STR amplification efficiency from oral swabs DNA. MethodDifferent oral swab DNA extracted by Chelex100 method or DNA IQ system magnetic bead method were quantitated by real time PCR technique, and typed with Identifiler systems in 3100 Genetic Analyzer. ResultsIn the 8μl Identifiler amplification system established, the amplification of 1μl template was more efficient than 3μl for the DNA extracted from oral swabs within 3 months by Chelex100 method. However, the quantity of DNA template extracted by DNA IQ system exerted little effects on the amplification efficiency. ConclusionIt is simple and operative method to improve the DNA analysis efficiency extracted from oral swabs by swabbing oral mucous membrane 5 times firstly, then extracting DNA from 1/4 vertical swab by 200μl Chelex100 method, and amplifying with 1μl template finally. The DNA of stale oral swabs extracted by DNA IQ system could be amplified more effectively.

This article introduce a new method to make the latent fingerprints emerge by using the iodine heatsublimating spraygun heated by a sort of quartz lamp. Experiments indicate that this method can be widely applied and can show fingerprints in a effective way, especially in showing the latent fingerprints left on the wall surface, on the aluminum alloy surface, and on UPVC surface.

This paper discusses halftone structures shaped by the techniques of colour printing. The authors have studied the outputs of over a hundred of the colour printers, and find out this kind of characteristics have particularity and stability. Questioned document examiners should use them as one of class characteristics of colour printers.

ObjectiveTo introduce the application of data recovery technique. MethodFor different failures of hard disk, such as physical failure and logical failure, EasyRcovery and Finaldata software were used respectively. ResultThe most damaged data recovered successfully. ConclusionEasyRcovery and Finaldata software can be used in casework.

Using Footscan gait systems made in Belgium, we investigate fully and quantitatively the thenar pressure distribution and the motion of foot while walking in normal speed. After the processing of the pressure data of 154 healthy male walking with bare foot on the sensor plate, we analyze a great deal of resultant data by means of Mathematical Statistics based on the theories of sports physiology, sports biomechanics and the traditional gait impression theory, we carried out some experiments to investigate fully and quantitatively the process of the unrolling of foot and the motion of foot during the formation of gait impression to testify the traditional gait impression theory. Finally we set forth a modified gait impression theory, discuss the reliability and the value of the gait impression, and provide some reference for the identification method of gait impression and for the further development of gait impression theory.
