Upconversion is photon conversion of long wavelength into short wavelength radiation. Upconverters is the type of materials that can produce upconversion. Upconverter can be applied for fingermark detection on difficult non-porous surfaces that conventional luminescence techniques cannot work well. This paper demonstrated the principle, conditions, current technology and future development of fingermark detection on non-porous surfaces by using upconverters.

Objective To prepare diacetylmorphine hydrochloride reference material, and test its homogeneity and stability. Methods Diacetylmorphine hydrochloride was separated from heroin samples and purified with moderate pressure liquid chromatogram. Then homogeneity and stability test were performed with statistical Methods. Results 0.88 crystal water was found in each diacetylmorphine hydrochloride molecule. The standard uncertainty due to inhomogeneity between bottles was 0.29%, and the standard uncertainties of short- and long-term stability was 0.04% and 0.46%, respectively. Conclusion The homogeneity and stability of diacetylmorphine hydrochloride reference material was satisfied.

Objective To design the DAI experimental facility and establish DAI animal models. Methods With the transiently rotation accelerative and decelerate vulnerate facility designed by author, the heads of rabbits were anticlockwise revolved to 90° and stop fleetly. The rabbits were killed at 6h, 12h, 24h after injury, respectively. HE staining, silver staining and β-APP immunohistochemistry were done and then the changes of axon were observed. Results After injury, the rabbits, behavior and pathology feature accorded with appearance of DAI. These animals had punctiform hemorrhage and patching positive reaction of β-APP at cortex-alba junction, corpus callosum and internal capsule. Conclusion The vulnerate facility can successfully duplicate the DAI, and the models are easily operated and have a large applicability.

Objective To investigate the application of the DNA IQTM SYSTEM in extraction of DNA from nail samples. Methods The genomic DNA from 15 difficult nail samples was extracted by the DNA IQTM SYSTEM and the PCR was performed using the identifiler○RPlus kit in the GeneAmp PCR system 9700. The PCR products were separated by capillary electrophoresis in ABI PRISM 3130xL genetic analyzer. Results the STR profiles from the 15 samples were successfully obtained. Conclusion The DNA IQTM SYSTEM is a fast and efficient system for the extraction of the DNA from difficult nail samples.

Objective To establish a rapid method for identifying adhesive tapes. Methods 35 brands of transparent adhesive tapes were collected and the thickness of samples were measured with MiniTest 4100(ElektroPhysik), the data were analyzed with SPSS software. Results Among 595 sample pairs from 35 brands of transparent adhesive tapes, 458 sample pairs were distinguished. The rate of discrimination was 77.0%.Conclusion The thickness measurement provides a pre-test method for distinguishing different brands of transparent adhesive tapes in the field of forensic science.

Objective To establish a MS/MS database for 90 kinds of pesticide and a rapid method for determination of 90 kind of pesticide in unknown samples. Methods Analysis conditions of Q-TOF LC/MS were optimized firstly and then 90 kinds of pesticide were analyzed by Q-TOF LC/MS-MS. By using PCDL (Personal Compound Database and Library) software, a database for 90 kinds of pesticide was established. Results 10 blood samples which contain different concentrations of pesticides (100ng/mL, 500ng/mL) were analyzed and the positive rate was more than 80%.Conclusion This method is simple, sensitive and can be used for rapid screening and confirmation of pesticide.

This paper introduced a method for qualitative analysis of toxic ingredients in toxic plants. Pseudephedrine and ephedrine in ephedras and codeine, morphine, thebaine, papaverine and narcotine in papaver were extracted by ultrasonic method and analyzed by GC/MS. This method can be used scientifically and accurately for identification of ephetras and papaver.

Objective To explore the application of PolyCyano UV powder in development of latent fingerprints on non-porous surface. Methods The fingerprints were treated with PolyCyano UV powder(manufactured by Foster + Freeman Ltd.) and observed or photographed with blue light and orange filter after exposed to long wave UV light for several minutes or hours. Results The latent fingerprints on the majority of non-porous objects, especially on light colors or white objects were developed successfully. In addition, the aged fingerprints could be developed. Conclusion This new technology has great potential as a simple, chemical-free, short-time method for fingerprints detection.
